2021 IDea Incubator
Do you have an idea that could change the field of infectious diseases and improve patient care? Applications are now open for the 2021 IDea Incubator hosted by the IDSA Foundation and in collaboration with Johnson and Johnson Innovation – JLABS.
The IDSA Foundation is proud to again collaborate with Johnson and Johnson Innovation – JLABS (JLABS) for the second year in a row to encourage creative problem-solving and help drive innovation. By collaborating on the IDea Incubator, the IDSA Foundation and JLABS are creating a platform for entrepreneurs, researchers and health care professionals with the aim to help translate their ideas into innovations that have the potential to improve the field of infectious diseases.
The 2021 IDea Incubator will take place during this year’s virtual IDWeek conference and is open to innovators across all fields from infectious disease professionals to entrepreneurs. IDea Incubator provides the opportunity for you to present your idea in front of the ID community; receive valuable feedback from our panel of judges in the business, technology and medicine industries; and be awarded up to $10,000 in funding. Three finalist's ideas will be selected for presentation in front of a live audience and expert panel of judges from the business, technology, and medicine industries. All finalists will receive a cash prize. The 1st place finalist will receive $10,000. See the Competition Rules for more information on how the event will be structured.
New this year, up to three IDea Incubator applicants may be selected for BLUE KNIGHT™ residency through JLABS, either at select physical JLABS locations or virtually*. Applicants selected for BLUE KNIGHT™ residency may differ from IDea Incubator finalists.
Through Blue Knight, JLABS is collaborating with the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), a component of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to spur innovation in mutual areas of interest.
Companies selected for Blue Knight may have access to unique benefits including fee assistance, access to JLABS space, dedicated mentorship from BARDA and the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, and dedicated equipment at select JLABS locations.
* Subject to the execution of an Award agreement with JJI and other agreements as are necessary and required for residency at a JLABS or a JLABS Virtual Agreement to become part of the JLABS and Blue Knight networks.
